Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
Bloom is an app for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV that plays media from your own Jellyfin server. It is made by Maddox Martinez ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Bloom.
The short version
We don't collect any data. There is no Bloom account, and the app has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We never receive what you watch, your servers' addresses, your sign-ins or anything else about you. Bloom talks only to the servers you choose to add.
Your servers
Bloom connects to the Jellyfin server you add and, optionally, to the requests server your server's admin set up. Those servers receive what they need to work: your sign-in, the device name Bloom reports, what you browse and play, your watch progress, favorites and requests. Your servers belong to you or to whoever runs them. That person controls the data on them, and their own policies apply. We have no access to your servers.
What stays on your device
Your settings and profiles, parental controls and the activity reports they keep, downloads and cached artwork are stored on your device only. Sign-ins and parent codes are kept in the system Keychain. Parent codes can sync to your other Apple devices through iCloud Keychain, which Apple encrypts and we can't read. Deleting the app removes its data from the device. Sign out first to remove sign-ins from the Keychain.
Permissions
- Local Network (iPhone and iPad): used only to connect to a server on your home network.
- Face ID: optional, to open a locked profile or show the parent code. Face ID is handled by your device. Bloom only learns whether it succeeded.
- Notifications: delivered quietly by default, for new episodes, finished downloads, available requests and recordings, and as a banner for Live TV reminders you set. The content comes from your server and is prepared on your device; reminders are kept on your device.
Other services
- Artwork in Discover. When your server's admin has connected a requests server, Discover shows titles and artwork from The Movie Database (TMDB). Poster images load from TMDB's image service, which sees your device's IP address, as any website does. Bloom isn't endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- Trailers open in the YouTube app or your browser, outside Bloom. Their policies apply there.
- Apple handles App Store downloads, iCloud Keychain and, if you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, anonymous crash reports. Apple's privacy policy applies.
Children
Kids profiles and parental controls exist on your device so parents can decide what their children see. Bloom collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. To delete data on your servers, ask whoever runs them; for your own Jellyfin server, use its dashboard. To remove everything Bloom stored on a device, sign out and delete the app.
Changes
If Bloom ever starts collecting data, for example opt-in crash reports, we'll update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version is released, and ask for your permission in the app first.
